Every once in a while, especially when programming, you have a problem that, even though you did what you thought were relevant searches, you still couldn’t figure out until hours of messing around with it. And sometimes, you want to save someone else the same agony, so you have to make a blog post about it.
This will, I am sure, be old news to at least some people who read it, but it turns out, google Chrome, a bit too silently I feel, ships with its own version of flash installed. I will leave the security implications of this (of which I’m sure there are many) to my friends who deal more in such things, but otherwise, you may say, hey, cool, zero-effort flash install. Which is great until you’re trying to install the debug version of flash. And you spend hours chasing red herrings trying to figure out why you’re not getting any debugging messages in chrome. So, yeah, you, who found this page from the same google search I did, that’s why your debug flash isn’t working. I hope I put enough keywords in this that it took you less time to find this page than it did me to find the one I linked above. You’re welcome.
